CKW Battery Option KitEN-4
OPERATION
Battery Detection and Initial Charging
Plug the power cord from the Indicator into a suitable AC power source.
The battery may begin charging as soon as the AC power is connected. This
is indicated by one or more blinking segments on the bar graph display.
Do not operate the unit on battery power alone until after an initial charge
has been completed*.
When properly installed, the power on display sequence will include the
message “bAt OP”. This message shows that the system has properly
detected the battery option.
It is possible that the power on display sequence also includes the message
“Lo-bAt”. This indicates that the battery requires charging.
*When first installed, the battery may require charging for 14 hours or more. This
special first time charge is indicated by the blinking of two yellow segments. Later
charge cycles will complete at a much faster pace.
Standard Battery Charging
If the system has been used until the display of “Lo-bAt”, the battery will begin a
new charge cycle the next time the AC plug is connected to a power source.
If the user requires that the battery charge be replenished regardless of the
existing battery level, a full charge sequence can be manually started by pressing
and holding the “C” button until a yellow segment begins to blink.
The fastest battery charging is realized when the system is powered off and
connected to an AC power source.
Charging may also occur when the system is powered on with the AC power
connected. In this condition, charging will occur at a lower rate. With the system
powered on, a full charge cycle may require up to 15 hours.
Normal battery charging is completed in 4 to 5 hours. As the battery ages, this
time may increase. A battery near the end of it’s useful life may experience very
short run times or may not charge at all. With proper care, the battery should
provide as many as 1000 complete charge cycles.
