EN-5CKW Battery Option Kit
Standard Battery Charging (Cont.)
The battery does not always enter the recharge sequence when connected to the
AC power. Charging normally occurs only when the battery has dropped below a
certain voltage level.
The battery charging cycle is optimized to provide improved battery life and
optimum run times. Charging is continuously monitored to prevent over charging
and to detect possible battery problems.
The most efficient use of the battery system will be realized if the unit is fully
charged in the off mode, then used until a display of “Lo-bAt” is seen.
Near the end the of charging cycle, it is normal for the back section of the
Indicator to become warm.
Charge Indication
A normal charge cycle begins with the blinking of the left most yellow segment.
As charging progresses, the blinking segment will move from left to right.
Charging is complete when the first green segment begins to blink.
While in the charge mode, the actual battery voltage may be monitored by a short
press of the “C” button. Normal battery voltage may range from about 6.6V to 8.8V.
Following a charge cycle, the green segment may continue blinking for up to 8
hours. During this time, the battery continues to receive a small maintenance
charge. If not removed from the AC power, a new maintenance charge may start
if the battery voltage later drops below a certain value.
Battery Charging Summary
• One yellow blinking segment: Shows the relative battery charging progress,
(slowly increments from left to right).
• Two yellow blinking segments: The battery is new and undergoing a charge
for the very first time.
• Green blinking segment: Indicates that the charge cycle is complete and a
maintenance charge is continuing.
